About Isabelle & Threaded Gray

I’ve been obsessed with arts and crafts for as long as I can remember. From friendship bracelets and dance costumes to my first attempt at a bikini line as a little girl, fashion and creativity have always been my playground. At 10 years old, my best friend and I even launched our first “brand,” Bear Alley, making patchwork sweatshirts we wore everywhere. From dressing up in my mom’s clothes to staging at-home photo shoots, I’ve always loved bringing an outfit to life.

After chasing my dream of attending the University of Southern California, I graduated from the Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism in 2020. When the world came to a halt during the pandemic, like so many recent graduates, I struggled to find work and looked for ways to stay busy. I started tie-dying and stitching on the floor of my childhood bedroom—right in the same spot where I used to play with my dollhouse and let my imagination run wild. I was simply having fun, with no idea this little passion project would grow into what Threaded Gray is today.

I chose the name Threaded Gray because ‘Gray’ is both my grandma’s maiden name and my middle name. It’s a little personal touch that means a lot to me. The brand started with custom sweat sets, tees, and masks (during the pandemic) for friends and family, and before long my parents’ dining table had turned into a full-blown production line, overflowing with blanks, packages, and shipping labels.

Today, Threaded Gray is powered by a small, talented LA-based team, with every piece handmade in our downtown workshop or my apartment studio. No matter how much we grow, three things will always stay the same: everything is made by hand, the brand is rooted in Los Angeles, and we’ll always be proudly woman-owned. Whether you’ve been with us since the dining table days or are just finding us now, thank you for being part of our story.
